As much as I think the present drop assigning is right, i'm still going to be a little sad that i'll get 1X presents each round instead of 100 presents
Was like a sport of it's own for me =p

Ah well, let's all be fair I guess.

I am sorry to say:

I am totally against assigned presents.

The FUN and GAME was to try to snatch as much as possible. Now I can no longer do that???

I play on EU servers and I suffered badly from the lag, too. When it was bad, I simply went to an empty spot where nobody was.

HINT: Presents drop where players are, so if you are alone, only few presents will drop, but right before your feet.

Just because some people are jealous because those with better connection get more drops? It is not only better connection, it is smarts and cunning often, too.

I found collecting these presents quite fun, even when I got only very few. But I had also great satisfaction when I got a lot from idlers on the 9 rings.

I welcome the rerun of the DF, Good job Anet.

Maybe I'll get rank 2 in lucky, rank 1 in drunkard & sweet tooth this time

As others have pointed out, the lag that European players experienced during the last Dragon Festival was caused by a faulty router in the Frankfurt data centre. I am not talking about 300-500ms lag, but lag that ran into the tens of thousands of milliseconds, freezing, disconnections, etc. etc. etc.

This made the game almost unplayable for the majority of European players for around two or three weeks, including the weekend of the Dragon Festival.

Have you tried playing Roller Beetle racing, or the Dragon Arena, with a ping time of 15-50,000ms? LOL

Here is the related thread from the time which had getting on for 400 posts and more than 10,000 views.

http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10172987

Re-running the event is a very nice gesture from Anet, and again shows that they do listen to their players.

I am looking forward to it myself!

Thanks Anet

Maybe this time I can enjoy the event without the Lagfest. 2-1534 was not fun and no presents was even worse.

I could care less if every event from now till Judgment day were rerun with no changes (maybe a new hat, but that’s it). I have enjoyed every event and only missed the Easter one even though it was like the Saint Pat's Day one and not really a full blown celebration. Keep em coming we love em.

Never mind the Whiners. I think most do it out of boredom or maybe they have mommy/daddy issues.

Personally, I loved the dragon festival. I enjoy the boardwalk games and any chance I get to increase my lucky/unlucky/sweet tooth/drunkard/skillz titles. I'm really looking forward to next weekend!!!
I agree. I am actually upset that I'm going to be out of town and can't play this weekend. Maybe ANet can bring back the dragon festival again in September because some of us are going to miss it this time. lol

It can be inferred that they won't. Gaile said earlier in this thread that they won't rework the code (mainly about fixing the grasps and assigning presents)

That's very nice. Thanks for listening Gaile/ANet!

Not only did i manage to do the last event of this, but i did enjoy it too, most likely I will be playing rollerbeetle again and doing all the quests with my characters to stock up on either booze or sweets. I enjoy these as it gives time to work on the time consuming and expensive titles, will probably ev en stand in rings whiel im away, so as to raise my lucky/unlucky title.

Because latency issues prevented some Guild Wars players from being able to fully enjoy July's Dragon Festival, we are happy to announce that the festival will enjoy a complete rerun the weekend of August 10th.
YES!! I wasn't able to play rollerbeetle racing AT ALL due to the crazy lag. It was terrible. Now I can work on that skillz title track. W0ot. ArenaNet ftw.

A giant boo for assigned presents. The few that whined about not having assigned presents last time certainly do not represent a majority. You can't have posts like Alex's saying that ANet knows that a few people whining don't outnumber those happily playing and then do stuff like this just to please a couple and annoy the masses.

this is realy odd.
if they were doing it for server problems, then they should rerun the last haloween final, as half of the U.K didnt get it as british telecom mannaged to break many many phone lines!

ah well, if its happening again, more waisting huge amounts of money on lucky titles.

I would have been beyond pissed off if they'd made such a decision since I live in SoCal and was seriously affected by latency issues during July's Dragon Festival.

Sweet, assigned presents. Bwahahahahah, kind of like a kid's soccer game where they don't keep score, fun. I'm gonna log on to get me some, right

:headbang: Does anyone ACTUALLY read news/updates to find out why the lag happened in the first place.

Another weep for humanity moment...

I've still got it. Called my ISP to see whats going on, they can't find anything themselves; so...

Everything else runs perfectly, 'cept this game.
